Reason for Investigation Request
This case came to us as a TAPS referral. The client lives with her fiance and a child. They have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 2 birds. The house was built in 1900 and has had renovations. The client also does Daycare in the home. The first experience for them happened to the client during their first week living in the house. The client states that in the basement area, while lifting a heavy box of photo albums onto a high shelf, the box began to slip from her grip and the box was gently moved onto the shelf by something unseen. A lot of the reported activity seems to affect their pets. They have heard random meowing from within the house which they can not find the source for and this began pretty much since they moved into the place. Multiple sightings of a ghost cat in the home. Other activity reported by the client was what sounded like someone in the kitchen making a lot of noise (the client described it as though someone making breakfast) but upon investigating this, no one was in the kitchen nor was anything out of place. Their one year old son has also been seen smiling and waving to someone whom the client and her fiance could not see. The client seeks validation or an explanation for the activity that has happened within this home.

TCPS arrived at the location at 9 p.m. Owners left the premises taking with them all of the pets to prevent contamination of evidence and set up of equipment was begun. Three video cameras were set up in the home. Camera one was in the basement in the area where client had experience of assistance with falling box. Camera two was on the main floor in the direction of the kitchen cabinets and drawers. Camera three was on the main floor pointing down the basement stairs where the “ghost cat” has been seen.
Basement:
Team one had baseline EMF readings ranging from .3 to .7 with Temperature readings of 68 degrees F. During their time in the basement there were no other fluctuations but one investigator had an experience of a cold spot on his arm. They also heard a noise from the main floor at 10:15 PM. Team two was on the 2nd floor at the time of the noise and no source could be found.
Team two reported EMF baselines of .1 to .2 and temperature of 59 degrees. It must be noted that the furnace at this time had been turned down due to the noise levels. EMF readings of the furnace area were .3 to .4 while the play areas were .3 to .4. Readings were also taken of the tanning bed as the client had mentioned that night that she had been touched while in the tanning bed. Those readings were taken with the tanning bed turned on and they read .3 but closer to the center fan of the bed the readings increased to 31.0 to 32.0. Team two had no experiences in the basement area.
Second Floor
Team two did baselines of the upstairs with temperatures ranging from 55 to 57 degrees F. EMF readings ranged from .1 to .4 with readings of 9.0 to 11.0 from the light switches, 21.0 to 23.0 coming from the alarm clock next to the bed. The team turned off the air purifier and there was a sound machine (relaxing) that was on the bedside that was shut off along with a humidifier to prevent audio contamination. The baby monitor was also shut off to prevent any outside interference.
The team was drawn to the child's bedroom after our initial 10 minutes silence. As they were in the child's bedroom they did have a few experiences of chills, (10:26 p.m.) cold spots and one investigator experienced a pain on the left side of her head. Fluctuations during these times were noted as a temperature change going from 64 degrees down to 60 degrees then back up to 62 degrees ambient. No drafts could be located. EMF’s remained at a consistent 0 to .3. Also while on this floor, noises could be heard downstairs on the main floor (10:13 p.m.) although team two was in the basement. Team two had also verified that they too heard these noises. Noises heard were of something moving and a couple incidences of knockings (10:16 p.m.)of which no source could be found.
Team two reported baselines in this area of .3 to .4 EMF and ambient temperature of 64.7 degrees. They also noted that between 11 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. that they also could hear a clicking noise outside in the stairway area. No source of this noise could be found.
Main Floor
Team two began in the Kitchen area by doing EMF readings of all appliances etc. due to all the activity in this area. Readings of the refrigerator ranged from 4.0 to 4.2, Stove 1.8, Toaster 3.8, Microwave oven 16.0 to 17.0 and there is a battery charger plugged into the wall that was putting out 18.0 to 20.3 EMF. The ambient temperature was 64.0 degrees F.
At 10:49 p.m. a noise was heard in the direction of the bathroom but was found to be the heat vent. While the team moved to the living room area team two heard clicking in the kitchen area, this too was heard by team one but a source could not be found. Temperature in the living room was 60 degrees F. but it must be noted that there is a very large draft that comes from the front bay window.
Around 11:25 p.m. A noise was heard coming from the basement and team two was on 2nd floor. No source could be found. At 11:27 p.m. another knock was heard coming from the kitchen. No source could be found. There were no other experiences in this area.
Team one had EMF readings of .4 on the main floor along with temperature readings of 60 degrees F. No changes or fluctuations were noted. They did hear a banging noise coming from the kitchen area around 12:10 a.m. No source could be found. Investigation ended at 1:30 a.m.
Final Analysis
TCPS did not have any experiences during the investigation of this site. We did, however, capture a few EVP’s from our time there. We were surprised at the high amount of EMF’s from various electrical devices both the owner’s bedroom and the kitchen. One has to wonder if perhaps the client has a type of EMF sensitivity. TCPS does feel this case warrants further investigation and we will keep you posted if this should occur.
